Design For The Imaginary

Design For The Imaginary

Speculative Design · Discursive Design · Thesis project · Social good · Collaborative Workshops

Brief Summary explores how design can foster belonging for Queer Arabs navigating life in the diaspora. Faced with loss of identity, racialization, and displacement, these individuals experience a "double dissocation" from both their Arab and Queer identities. Through design workshops and the concept of "Queer Futurity," the project empowers participants to envision a positive future where belonging is redefined. By transcending present limitations, participants reclaim control over their narratives and create a sense of personal and communal belonging within their new environment.
